Summers in San Antonio, TX, never fail to be memorable. Whether you are going to Six Flags for the day, swimming at Seaworld’s epic waterpark, eating tacos at one of the hundreds of authentic Tex-Mex restaurants, or enjoying the culture surrounding the beautiful Riverwalk, you are destined to have a good time — it is just inevitable!
But let’s be honest, as much as we love San Antonio, there is one thing we all complain about: the heat. It isn’t always a bad thing. In fact, the weather may not even bother you when you’re jumping off diving boards with friends or screaming as you plummet down a steep water slide. Spending a long day out in the heat, however, does eventually take a toll on someone. You start dragging and can become tired or overheated. In cases like mine, you may even become the moodiest person your friends or family have ever encountered.
Luckily, I have a powerful air conditioner to keep me cool the moment I walk through the door. It runs like a charm, and that is 100 percent due to the regular tune-ups that keep the unit running efficiently.
Now, you may be thinking, “My air conditioning unit works just fine, and I have plenty of fans around the house. Why waste my money on a tune-up?” Maybe that is true. Maybe you are happy with your air conditioning unit, but a tune-up is anything but a waste of money! If anything, it as an investment that will save you money in the long run.
Ensure Comfort and Safety
For starters, let’s talk about the unexpected. In my opinion, surprises are awesome — whether it be birthday parties, presents, or great news. Unfortunately, we do not always get pleasant surprises in the real world. Have you ever had your AC suddenly stop working in the middle of July in San Antonio? If you have, then you know how incredibly dreadful it is. Most of us are not air conditioning professionals. We cannot detect when our unit is having a problem or coming close to breaking down. Getting a tune-up for the summer will guarantee that your unit is working properly and will prevent future breakdowns. Not to sound cliche, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
Save Money on Electric Bills
Moving on, let’s shift our focus to energy – not the kind of energy a seven-year-old gets after they drink a soda, but the kind that causes your jaw to drop when you receive a hefty bill in the mail. (Personally, I would much rather have my jaw shut; I really do not want any of those summer bugs flying in there.) This is just another way an AC tune-up can be beneficial! It ensures that your unit is running properly and not working any harder than it has to in order to keep your home cool, thus saving energy and saving money. The harder your unit has to work, the higher your bill will be.
Help the Environment
Reducing the amount of energy used in your home not only lowers electric bills, but makes a change for the better in the environment. Who doesn’t want to live in a healthy world? When your air conditioner is using less energy, it lowers the carbon footprint that your home puts on the environment. Now, to state the obvious, carbon can’t walk. So, what is a carbon footprint? It is the amount of carbon dioxide released due to the use of fossil fuels. A high carbon footprint can have adverse effects, so tuning up your unit will allow you to do your part in keeping our environment clean.
Breathe Clean Air
On top of protecting our environment, I would assume that we all want to keep ourselves healthy as well. It may seem surprising, but there are times when you are at more risk of pollution harm in your own home than you are outside of it; it is all about air quality. When air filters are not replaced regularly, the air circulating through your home fails to be pure. Your lungs are one of the most important parts of your body and are constantly working to keep you alive. Help those hard workers out! Getting a tune-up for your A/C will also be like getting a tune-up for your lungs. Make sure you also ask to replace all of the air filters in your home to ensure that the air being breathed in is at its cleanest — so the people breathing it can be at their finest. With that being said, your family will be less likely to get sick – which also means less medical bills!
Prevent Spending Money on Repairs
If you are not already convinced to call and make an appointment, there is one more thing that might change your mind. Getting a tune-up is a small price to pay compared to the damage repairs that your A/C unit might have to receive after breaking down unexpectedly. Air conditioning repairs can often be three time or more the amount of money you would spend on a tune-up. I am sure I am not the only one who is passionate about saving money, even if it is just a few measly dollars. Therefore, getting a tune-up is definitely on my list of things to do… given that spending less than $100 on a tune up could potentially save you from spending hundreds of dollars on a repair!
So let’s recap for a minute. An air conditioning tune-up ensures:
- Comfort and Safety
- Energy Savings
- Lower Electric Bills
- Cleaner Environment
- Healthier Lifestyle
- Lower Risk of Major Breakdowns (+ More Savings)
